Ok guys, i'm not sure which to go for between these two, what ya reckon?

1. Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 + Asus Maximus II Formula

or

2. Intel i7 920 + Asus P6T Deluxe V2

What you reckon? Will have 4-6gb of Ram to go with it.

The board seem ok with the i7?

I was thinking of the corsair XMS3 6GB for memory?

Would the core system be a good enough system or miles behind i7?

the core 2 quad would be a very capible system, but if you have the cash to spend on a i7 then you should def go for it.

the ram i linked to is about the best ram you can get for the price.

that board will be fine for a i7.

Hmm... im stuck! I really like the maximus board, but i like the i7!

The Maximus board looks really good to me, and the system overall works out a lot cheaper... but i think i might regret not going for the i7?

yes if it comes down to money, build what you can within your budget. if you have the money to spend, the i7 is faster and (obviously) newer.

Ok, i just wasn't sure how the board would be? Ive heard mixed reviews.

Heres what i was thinking, you reckon it would work well? Any changes?

- Intel i7 920
- Asus P6T Deluxe V2
- 6gb Corsair XMS3
- 1TB Western Digital WD10EACS Caviar Green
- 800W Gigabyte Odin Pro PSU
- Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM

Just leaves my graphics card, probable the most important part as its for graphic design!!!

Go with this ram:
Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

It's cheaper, has better timings, and can overclock to at least 1800mhz.

What graphics card are you trying to get?

Depending on the card and how much power you'll need, either way this power supply is better quality:
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies
