Seagate firmware Problems.

I am planning to buy this Hard drive soon

And was wondering if Seagate has fixed the firmware problem, as in, theres nothing I need to do with it to get it working?

Are they even selling the plaqued ones?

it's supposedly fixed, but there are still users reporting issues

I don't know, could be just user error

there might still be old stock with the older firmware, who knows

nah, I saw it was a samsung, but I just figured it was "user error"
none that i know of (firmware issue) for the samsung

The 1tb model isn't a bad deal, it's only .3 cents more expensive per gig than the 1.5tb. I personally have the 1.5tb, and while a lot of users were reporting problems on those, it was mostly in RAID...the firmware issues should have been fixed, and I doubt newegg would still sell the crap ones.

For the record, I bought one during the whole fiasco, and I have the right firmware according to seagate that doesn't cause any problems, so I'm having a blast with mine.

I got a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB right before (a few weeks) they announced the firmware issues but I have not had a single issue and downloaded a program seagate linked me to to test the drive and found no errors. So hopefully it doesn't brick at a later date LOL. originally I planned on getting another so I could try out my first RAID seeing as I have the right MB for it, but don't feel good about dropping another $90 on a seagate. Wish I went WD like I usually do. Seagate makes me nervous.
