Hi,

I have a 120gb seagate hd, i installed it last week and everything went fine until now.
i turned my computer on and after the xp logo loading, the screen just hangs and all i see is a black screen.
when i take off the harddrive everything works fine.

Hi,

it says
1st boot device: Floppy
2nd boot device: IDE-0
3rd boot device: CD-ROM

i tried changing it to:
1st boot device: IDE-0
1st boot device: IDE-1
3rd boot device: CD-ROM

with no success.

The 120gb seagate is on primary slave btw.

Could be the drive is dying or there is a power issue. Since it works without the drive it could be a power issue. What kind of devices do you have hooked up and what kind of PSU do you have?

haha wow, im off today, didn't even realize that if the drive wasn't booting the right one then windows would not have flashed....DOh

Hi,

safe-mode doesn't work for me(it reboots when i'm at the login screen)
The harddrive worked for about a week, and now it doesn't? hmm.

i don't have any other devices connected.
How would i know what kind of PSU i have? my computer is around 8 years old so it is pretty crappy im guessing

On the back of the PSU you should see the specs of the PSU. It should tell you something like 350W and the manufacturer. There is a sticker on the back of all PSU's that give it some sort of identity. That will be your best bet.
