I normally lick the metal plate of my cpu before installing it. Its how I know if its a good overclocker or not. 60% of the time it works every time.

Unlucky the heatsink is just a chunk of metal afterall and soaking it in vinegar may cause it to tarnish rapidly but no major problems and the dishwasher would of just heated it up to 70C which is normal use anyway. Ofcourse if there is built on fan then there may be more of an issue.
