Why is the older SD-RAM dearer than the newer DDR-RAM?
512MB PC133 SD RAM - AUS $135
512MB PC3200 DDR RAM - AUS $120

Seems wierd but there obviously a good reason for it. Is it under more demand?

It is better but more common since still being built in large quantities. The market still works with offer/demand. Since SD-RAM are rare, they are more expensive.

Sdram chips are getting harder and harder to get a hold of. DRAM producers are producing less of it, they're switching over to other processes. Flash, DDR2, etc. There's more money in those. And there's just not as much demand for SDRAM as there was in the past. It's still out there, but not in the quantities it used to be.
