I currently have 1 4870 512mb with a single 22' monitor. I will soon be upgrading to 3 22' monitors with triplehead2go. Should i get another 4870 512mb and crossfire or will the single one be ok? I will be playing graphic heavy games. Thanks.

Ideally you want a 1GB card, Sapphire are coming out with a 2GB 4870 soon actually...

2 of those in CF would be ideal.

Thanks. But at 400, i wont be getting the 2gb anytime soon. How well (or poorly) would 2 512s do? 1gbs?

Well you need the most memory you can get....I would sell the 4870 512mb and pick up a 4870X2 as that has 1GB per GPU....then at a later date you can add a 4870 1GB for tri-fire.... :)

Thanks. Just asking here... how would the 4870 512 (or the 4870 1gb) handle triplehead2go with 3 22' monitors while gaming in lets say left 4 dead or cod5? I plan on getting a 4870 2gb along with a 1gb for tri soon, but would just like to know how the 512 would do until then. Trying to figure out what to buy in what order. Also, how much would I expect to get for the 4870 512 if I sold it? Of course its used but in like new condition with box and all accessories.

By now you know what im trying to pull off, so here is my cpu and ram, let me know if they will be able to handle it along with the new video cards...
q6600 g0 @ 3.6ghz
8gb ddr2 1066 ram

Thanks again.

a 512mb 4870 is going to have a really, really tough time at that resolution.....not sure how much you can get for it if you sell it. search for completed ebay auctions to get an idea of resale price.

Are u sure your power supply can handle that? If so , good luck!
I just calculated u will need at least 1200 watts if u have a quad-core , 2 dvd roms,
4gb Ram , and a high-end mobo Better to have more than u need than not enough.
