Nvidia's GeForce GTS 250

Well yeah. I'm about to run out the door, so I can't find benchmarks on lower resolutions, but I assume that the performance would even out more at the lower resos. The GTS 250 is by no means something for high end, which is why I mentioned the resolution being high in the tests. :p

EDIT: Does anyone else but me hate the way GTS 250 looks as a name? It's weird.

chose 1920x1200 because it was in the middle of the three. 1680x1050 is already getting small. And 2560x1600 is silly.

the average is 1680x1050... so it would be better to look at those results instead

Ok I went and grabbed the numbers for 1680x1050 so everyone would be happy.

Age of Conan
4870 1 gig=39.5fps
260 core 216=31.9fps

COD 5
4870 1 gig=61fps
260 core 216=59.9fps

Crysis
4870 1gig=33.3fps
260 core 216=31.1fps

Fallout 3
4870 1gig=55.5fps
260 core 216=42.9fps

Far Cry 2
4870 1 gig=37.8fps
260 core 216=33.4fps

L4D
4870 1gig=87.4fps
260 core 216=70.3fps

and considering that it is going against a card with double the memory it is not fare to compare it in that way

The 4870 1 gig does not have double the memory of the gtx260 core 216 (or core anything for that matter). It has 100 meg more which makes little difference.

it probably beats it in almost every aspect, if not all.

I would check the benchmarks before saying something like that. Numbers don't lie. And I don't make an assertion without having read benchmarks and knowing the facts ahead of time.

Phillbar, here is the big difference between my article and yours. Your article is from last year and has old drivers. Mine is current and has catalyst 9.2. It is pretty apparent that the driver updates to ATI in the intervening time has given them an edge.

yeah, i was about to edit it mecause i seen it, then my dial up went on the fritz...sorry.

no prob bro. I remember the days of dial up and just how bad it was, I feel your pain.

All of those tests are significantly older than the Anandtech ones and are no longer accurate because of multiple driver updates from both sides. Also they tend to be from less reputable sites and some have other testing flaws like running factory overclocked cards aginst stock cards.
