I dont plan on running crossfire or sli but would like a 4850 is it ok to run on this psu? $39.99 seems like a really good deal for a psu i can keep when i choose to upgrade

yup, and a great deal on that psu. I used it in an earlier build to power a 2900XT and it ran like a champ so you'll be fine.
