The reinstall fixed the problem.

Encode time is generated from a spreadsheet using your posted FPS numbers for the v0.59.819M version of the benchmark run (2nd loop).

i forgot i had my vcore up so high (trying for 3.9), need to lower it those temps are a wee bit high. probably wouldnt hurt to clean out my HSF either lol.

Or maybe you don't have the video codec?
I've got the CCCP Combined Community Codec Pack for all my video needs.
From that pack I've installed ffdshow, haali splitter, vsfilter and media player classic. But I don't think you need that. Maybe just ffdshow?

@gurusan: how come your results show a xeon x3360 @ 3400 Mhz and not e8500?
I'm surprised my Q6600 @ 3Ghz beat an e8500 @ 4.6 Ghz. I guess quad core really does help in encoding.

And dude112, the results on the first page were just an example, but I posted mine up there anyway.

And yeah encoding really depends on total processing "ghz" available. Even though it's not usually recommended to think about multicore processing this way your quad has 12ghz of power while my E8500 has 9.2GHz....

That said, I've just bought a Q9450, we'll see if I like it enough to keep.
