So I just got a new graphic card (9800gtx+ 512MB from SPARKLE) and on the box it is written under minimum system requirements:

-Minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 24A)

Now my power supply is a 550W but at 12V it only provides 22A.

So do I need to get a new power supply or will this one do just fine? I haven't booted the new computer with the graphic card yet for fear that it might damage my new rig, leaning on the side of caution.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.

You'll be safe, the companies always exagerate for the minimum requirements. A 9800gtx+ on full load will probably only draw 130w and maybe 11 amps.

I forgot to mention that the card takes two 6-pin power connectors... no idea if that changes anything or not.

That brand isn't even on our PSU list. If it only puts out 22A, I would recommend getting a new PSU. I wouldn't personally trust that one but its up to you. Did it come with a pre-built?

No it's the PSU from my older computer. The graphic card, processor, mobo & rams I ordered from newegg.ca
