disable monitor resolution expansion for desktop

hey guys is there a way to create a black boundary box or something similar to the feature in laptops "disable lcd expansion" which generally creates a boundary box so the image look sharp. I want this for desktop pc and if there is any software or something please tell me. thanks.

Vista has that as an option for customizing your desktop. Are you on XP?

yeah i'm on xp but why laptops have that option but not desktop monitor?

Hi,

I see that you have the Nvidia 8800gts

go into Nvidia control panel -> panel scaling
and select the "use Nvidia scaling" or Fixed-aspect scaling... either of those, I can't remember which since I am in the red camp now
