Will perform a lot better compared to the old Phenoms.

^ forgot all about those, that would be a little better than the e7300. but e7300 will still overclock.

and if you go intel you have more upgrading room, meaning get the e7300 now and later you can get a q9550 for cheap that will smoke the X3.

Not really faster, more like on par. The 940 is almost the same as Q9400, and a 920 is like a Q6600 in terms of performance.

no, the phenom II 940 is a little slower than the q9450 and the phenom II 920 is on about/on par with the q9400

The 940 is abut the same as the q9400 while the Q9550 is faster in nearly every benchmark.

I've done the same thing before, its not a big deal.

The identical prices and similar performance between the q9400 and PII 940 pretty much makes the decision come down to personal preference.

^ also the upgrade-ability, with a q9400 intel build you can later upgrade to a q9550.

with the amd 940 you allready have the top of the line cpu. nothing better on the amd side.

Yeah, the higher end Core 2 Quads do give you upgrade options.
