Thermal paste is a very high heat conductive paste. It fills in all microscopic imperfections on the heatsink and CPU/GPU that can trap air in them and cause a loss in the heatsink's performance. It basically transfers heat from the cpu to the heatsink. I think TX-2 is the easiest to work with and tests show it's one of the best.

The TX-2 Thermal Paste, I've seen loads of people talking about it but that's about it. I hope I'm not putting myself on the noob seat by asking what exactly does it do (benefits, etc?). Is it a pain in the backside?

It's designed to fill in whatever tiny scratches might be on either surface for improved thermal conductivity (so more heat goes into the heatsink) - it's very simple, just 'inject' a little dab on and it'll do it's thing.

Edit: Drat, beaten by gt7 :p

The HD 4850X2 is an awesome card for the money. I love mine. Glad I made that choice.

WARNING: Make SURE that your case has enough room for this card. It's the longest card probably ever made. You'll need atleast 12" between the I/O slot and the end of the card.

I had the thermaltake shark, the card wouldn't fit. I had to transfer all my stuff into my Antec P180 and remove the center HDD mount to have enough room for this card.

My recommendation is try to find a case that is "eATX".

So even a person with butterfingers like me can manage it? It does sound a tad helpful though.

Am I ready for my i7 adventure tomorrow? =P

Because its an ugly, overpriced dust magnet

And people copy the design for no reason

It's a dust magnet? I heard great reviews about it. I actually thought the longest when looking between the Antec 900 and eATX. What deterred me was that I couldn't find a nice yet practical eATX =(.
