phenom II x3 720 hits 4.2GHz on air

I dunno, so far I have not seen many stable 4+ghz clocks on any phenom 2...pretty sure it would be a downgrade coming from my wolfdale.
 
Yeah im pretty sure a tri-core at 4.3 or 4.4ghz will be faster than an E8500 at 4.6ghz due to the extra core, even with a 300mhz slower clock.
 
We shall see, I have a feeling I'll be sticking with my wolfdale for awhile.

Also where are you getting these 4.3-4.4ghz numbers from? The highest stable x3 clock I've seen is 3.9ghz.

In 99% of apps out there my wolfdale will be faster at 4.6ghz...

Highest stable overclocks out of X3's is 3.9ghz true. But that's on air, with water I m sure you could hit 4.5ghz or close.

As far as the last comment is concerned, your probably right. But more games will support the extra core down the line anyways.

From what I've seen I really don't think that's likely. If it's true then I might be tempted to change over but I'm going to wait and see first.
