I would replace the cpu with this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-452&depa=1
$144
and this mobo for the cpu
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-152-043&depa=1
$80
that is $503 if you keep the case, ram and HD that DaShizNit609 suggested(which are all good choices).
you also forgot the cd drives.
here is a dvd burner, it also burns cds, and reads dvds.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-152-023&depa=1
$64
here is a quiet fan that moves a good amout of air
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-999-135&depa=0
$5.99
I reccomend getting 2.
it looks as though the fan in the front of that case is 120mm, but buy the case and make sure before you buy a fan.
$578
are you trying to play games with this computer?
also, what you could do, is take a card lying around(if you have any) and use that til you save up enough to buy a 6800(if you are a gamer) otherwise, you don't need to spend more than $150 to $200 on a vid card.

yeah, i agree. the other one is just if you want something w/256 RAM, and again, i'm not sure what (if any) noticable difference there is, but go w/the 9800. Also, u may want to look into an AIW (all-in-wonder (includes TV Tuner, very useful)) card if you can find one in ur price range. (try froogling it)

i would say that the system posted by Soloman02 is the one to go for, although, i doubt you would use 250Gb, so you could save some money and get a slightly smaller one, like 120Gb or something. but make sure its SATA.

one word: emachines (i gotta t3025, but i think they're up to like t3092 which is cheap and supposed to b great)
For the life of you, never ever get an eMachine. They are cheap for a reason, build quality. You can't upgrade those suckers unless you do memory only. My first system was an eMachine and since then, I just started building comps, I didn't want to deal with that poo again.

Mine's been working like a charm for 6+ months. i've put in 512 more RAM, DVD+R(W), another 160gb hd, AGP card, and a TV tuner. Fine so far.
