wow, thank you so much, that was exactly what i needed to see. and yes, i agree that it will beat the crap out of the hp i was looking at. can't believe i ever even thought about buying it:eek:

the comp i build will definetely look something like that

thanks again:D

Not a problem. Be sure to log back on here and let me know how it goes when you get it built. Also, I checked the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) of the motherboard, and the RAM is on there as one of the recommended types, so you're good to go. Best of luck!

You could get a much larger 7200 rpm harddrive for less money.
You could get a cheaper graphics card if linux is going to be your main OS.
You aren't going to be playing the most recent games with linux.
Decent case

The processor and Motherboard reccomendations sound fine..
As price comparison on HD

and you could get 120 gigi for even less.
Have fun hunting down your favorite build

i'd rather get a 10,000 rpm hd for the performance benefit... or is there not much of a difference?

linux will be my main os but i'll be using windows mostly for gaming, so yes, i do want a nice vcard.

thanks for the links

10,000 RPM rotational disk speed and 4.5 ms average data seek times and a 7,200 RPM drive has average of 8.4 so yes there obviously is a difference in performance

thanks DaShizNit609, that's what i'll get then.

OIDanTheManIO, i decided that a while ago...
