Canada, eh?
Don't you think I would go with a 4870 if I could afford it? If you can find me one for $200 CAN, I'll get it.

Thanks hefemeister, that's basically what I've been hearing. Perhaps I'll go with it.

The closest I could find for a 4870 from a refutable brand is this one.
Newegg.ca - ASUS EAH4870 DK TOP/HTDI/512MD5 Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
255 CAN with an additional 30 CAN mail in rebate.

With rebate 35 more than the 4850 you picked out. If you could swing it great it would be worth it. If not go for the 4850. I understand a budget.

I did see some 4850 1gb cards for around 200 but at that point you might as well save for a bit for a 4870.

Actually it'll be less than that. That 30 dollar refund is 30 USD, so it's close to a 40 dollar CAD refund.

Depends on what your playing. I would say around 1600x1050 is where you would want to start considering it on newer games. 1920x1200 I would definitely try for it.
