So I have a Biostar 7600GS running in my parents rig that they use for general browsing. The card/the fan had been quiet as can be until a couple days ago. Now it's noisy as ****. It's not overheating - I check when it gets real noisy. The computer isn't overheating either - I check that too. The fan won't make a sound for say five minutes, and then it will start making a lot of noise. It will go in and out like that while the PC is on. Hardly ever stays quiet more than five minutes though. There is no dust in or by the fan. Is the fan just going bad? It's about two years old.

It happens sooner or later,The bearing in the fan is probably starting to crap out.
Look into getting an after market 1,The little Zalman VF700 would work pretty good with that card and its pretty much a silent cooler.

Yeah I am. Parents were whining about the noise, so I ordered the Zalman VF700.

are you certain that the sound was the GPU fan as i have previously mistaken the sounds of other fans as the GPU fan. the bearings probably need oiling is all.
