My friend is looking for a graphic card, he is in the price range of $100-$200. He is stuck however, he could either go with a 9800GTX+ for around $150, or get something else. I recommended a GTX 260 for $200 but he was like "Dude thats too much money." What are you guys opinions on it?

He has a:

Gigabyte P35 Motherboard
2GB DDR2 800
Nvidia 9800gt
Core 2 duo e4300
22" 1680x1050 Monitor (Can't remember which one)
Seagate 300GB HDD 7200.11
750W PSU

A lot of people I know have ordered 9800GT's and received 9800GTX+, so you could take your chances, and if it fails, just SLI?

Dunno.

Oh ok. Then go for either 9800GTX+ or HD4850. Which ever is cheaper, because they're on par with each other give or take a little.

I would suggest either of these two:
Newegg.com - XFX HD-485X-YDFC Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N884-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ Superclocked Edition 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Wait why would you even bother upgrading a 9800gt nowadays with a budget of around $150? That really doesn't make any sense.

I agree....unless you are going to get one of the very best cards available now....jus stay put....the 9800gt is a very good card.

an HD 4850.. its a step up from an 9800GT

However, I would wonder why waste $150 to buy another, because its not that much of a step up

ya i agree with everyone else. The money spent won't be worth the small increase in performance
