yes, but idk if u will get a BIOS update to recognize the AM3 CPU. The functions and features will still work but just wont recognize.

will work, 100% im sure. Ur computer will read the processor however as "AMD Processor model unknown".

my AMD Phenom II 940 does on my MSI K9A2 Platnium v1, a BIOS update is still on the way. Trust me, that x3 will work.

here is how it works with AMD:

AM2/AM2+ processors does not work on AM3 socket mobos.

AM3 does work on AM2/AM2+ socket mobos.

because AM3 processors have both AM2/AM2+ and AM3 memory controllers and same amount of pins (940). AM2/AM2+ processors cannot work on AM3 socket mobos because they do not have AM3 memory controllers, just AM2/AM2+.
