I have a 6 year old PC which is still in good condition but runs very slow. It currently uses 256mb of RAM. I want to replace the sticks with more RAM, but i do not know where to start.

Can anyone provide assistance?

My Systems Specs:

OS: Windows Xp Home Edition
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 1.80ghz
Graphics Card: 64mb
RAM: 246mb x 2

We actually need to know the motherboard model, or even the brand and model of your computer. This is so we can tell what type and the maximum amount of RAM your computer can take.

I'll leave this one to Nukem. He's got it. In addition to his suggestion, go to the tab that says "mainboard".

oh alright. Sorry, i'm not that great with computers.
I hope this info helps:

Brand: Hewlett-Packard
Model: Hp pavilion 513n
Available Memory Slots: 1
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: No
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.80GHz Model 1, Stepping 3
