just look around things like
www.compgeek.com or www.pricewatch.com or any sort of bidding or low price online. www.egghead.com used to be good, but not sure if its around anymore. You can build your own FAR cheaper. The only thing that may cost more is getting you legitimate copy of the o/s and other software bundles, as they normally have contractual discounts.

the thing with amd is that i want a 64bit cpu so i can take advantage of it with my os. i know microstf doesn't support it (yet), but linux already does.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that this set up will kick the piss out of the computer you saw in the advertisement. In fact, I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it
