I have come a problem that has left me baffled. I just reformatted an old PC. Socket 478.
It has a Gigabyte GA-8LS533 motherboard. I installed all the drivers correctly... My network driver seems to be installed and working fine.

I downloaded my drivers from the official site from the official motherboard.

See the problem is that no matter if the Ethernet cable is connect the computer will not connect. It's just a constant -

So I take the plug out... back in... back out... and I notice an orange light rather then the regular greenish light on the plug.

I'm not sure why it's not detecting the cable... before I reformatted It was working fine. If there anything I may have to change here? -

Any information, suggestion would be deeply appreciated. Thank You.

Maybe the ethernet chip is bad. Got a NIC kickin around?
I actually don't... I'd have to go pick one up to rule out whether it's the NIC chip... Sigh...

or could it be a problem on the router/modem side?

I'm not sure if that's possible... or is it? I mean... I use the modem on other computers and they work... Besides... this one was just working before I reformatted.
