A friend gave me a small LCD monitor (HP) when he turned it on, it worked fine for a few minutes. Then sparks flew out of the back of it and smoke rolled threw the vents. It no longer displays anything. When I opened it up, i noticed the tape around the Power supply was black, so I looked around and noticed 2 wires were stripped but I don't understand how to get to them to fix them. Any tips? Could this have caused more unseen damage? Also, it powers on fine and seems to run smooth then it starts to smoke and goes out again. Could it be getting to much voltage?

I would say throw it out, it ain't worth fixing. The constant sparks could turn into fire, which leaves you with a bigger problem.

Buy a new one.

Yeah i would agree. If you power it on and it starts to smoke that will never be a good situation. Get rid of it.

Okay, thanks everyone again this will go in my closet of junk, one day I might need a part. :)
