Less luck than just skill.

Especially with a lot of the newer processors, 4ghz is easier than you might think.

I suppose I was lucky to get an e6600 that clocks well, but again it comes down to buying early processors, the ones that come out in the beginning are almost always better overclockers.

I picked up this chip in December of 2006, not long after it came out.

I got mine September of 2006 :)

Running at 3.2ghz , enough for me.
 
Sometimes at a certain overclock the system is stable enough to run and run superpi but no cpuz... Kinda sucks for some of the overclocks...

yes.

i once was able to run super pi + 3dmark 06

and when i went to open up gpu-z, "BLAM" crashed.
 
Very nice.

I couldn't get mine stable at 4.0ghz so I settled for 3.8ghz.

I'm gonna drop in my better ram soon and try it agin with some tighter timings, this was done with some rubbish 5-5-5-18 DDR2-800 4gb kit.

Got some lovely 1066mhz Patriot kicking around that I'll drop in.
