seems too good to be true

then the first board will most likely get you to 3.6GHZ, but there are no guarntees. each chip and mobo overclock differently.

it probly wont get a e8400 to 4GHZ+ but it will probly do a 1GHZ oveclock on it.

Contradicting yourself there ;). 3GHz + 1GHz gives you 4Ghz.

Both of those boards are good. Should be able to do 3.6GHz on the G31 chipset. I know I've done it.

The g31 is a low end chipset so don't expect much on the feature side. it should be ok at overclocking, but again don't expect any miracles. You get what you pay for.

I remember looking into that board for a friend's build. On average they do overclock very well but in games at the same clock speed it was like 5% or 7% slower than a p43/p45 or something like that.

i know i am slow sometimes. what i meant was, dont expect to get over 4GHZ.

I wouldn't expect to get very far with that board. I'd bump up your mobo budget a little more and look to spend like 100ish on one.
