I am going to build my second computer for my father and he is wanting to spend $1000 at most on a gaming pc.

It has been a long time since I have done some research on quality products and I was hoping maybe some of you had some lists of computer parts that would fall in this price range to enhance my research.

I already have a monitor for the new PC. Thanks.

well... knock off ~200 for OS +keyboard +mouse +shipping
i would go intel e8400... good for just about anything
how much would you want to spend on a vid card?

There is no reason to buy E7300, because E7400 is $5 cheaper
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
Personally I recommend this combo deal
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

And there is no reason to buy Q9300, because Q9400 is cheaper

thanks for the suggestions guys, that's a good looking combo deal. I plan on ordering all the parts from newegg. Also I have alot of gaming keyboards and mice so I dont need those either, forgot to mention that. I believe the monitor is 1280X1024
