well if you could fit a q9400 in your budget then that would be better for future games. but for now the e8400 will do a slight bit better for current day games.

There is no reason to get a q9400 when he can fit a i7 920 in his budget.

well im real tight on budget and im trying to buy alot of parts for my car that are ridiculously expensive.

i prob end up getting the quad

btw does the memory speed have to match the cpu speed to get the best performance, say in some cases slower memory would better or am i just confused

No you don't have to. You can run a 1:1 ratio, and some say you get better performance matching the speeds. That way the ram or cpu doesn't hold the other back.

can you explain how it works though because im so confused

say i have a cpu dual core with fsb of 300mhz and ddr2 ram at 800mhz

would that be a 300:400 ratio

That would be like a 4:5 ratio. Although the ram speed wouldn't be exactly 800mhz.

4:5 = (300mhz / 4) x 5 = 375mhz

375 x 2= DDR2 750mhz

i think tahst going to be my build next, maybe diff ram, but the mobo and cpu are rock solid it seems and reviews are great.
i use ddr2 in that board right
