Okay, i wanted a new pc, so i got parts together and got this:

http://www.techist.com/forums/f76/building-new-computer-need-help-198628/

totaling close to 1500$

but then i was looking at the bestbuy ads today and found this i7 pc made by dell:

DELL Intel® Core™ i7-920 Quad-Core Processor Studio XPS Computer

with 20" HD LCD* 16:9 Widescreen Monitor and Canon All-in-One Printer. Preloaded with 15 months of Trend Micro® AntiVirus. Windows Vista® Home Premium**, 4GB DDR3 memory, 640GB hard drive and ATI Radeon™ HD 4850 graphics with 512MB dedicated graphics memory. (SXPS-122B/S2009W/MP240)

on sale for 1100$

im thinking i should go with dell... any opinions?

most of the difference is
the moniter
the harddrive
the graphics card
memory
OS
maybe powersupply

if buy dell, could upgrade,

the most diff. dell comp on sale for 1100$, build = 1500$

what are you talking about?. i dont think dell is vey upgradeable. better of just building up.

for one i7 supports tri channel memory, aka u want 3 or 6 gb of ram not 4gb(dual channel)

its gonna be using a pos dell motherboard that, like stated above, doesnt support tri channel memeory

it will have low end ram in it

it will be preloaded with a bunch of trash

prolly has a 32 bit os cuz it didnt say 64 bit in the title

the printer is prolly a piece of junk

monitor prolly is a piece of junk too

power supply is gonna be a piece of junk...

do u want me to go on...

The dell, you won't be able to upgrade it, dell is very strict about that.
The dell, will have a horrible PSU.
The dell, will have horrible memory.
The dell, will have a horrible case.
The dell, will have stock heatsink.
The dell, will have a horrible motherboard.
The dell, will have horrible support.
The dell, will ruin your life and make it a living ****.
The dell, isn't your own computer. You won't know it back to front.
The dell, will explode on you and they will say you did it. No refund.
The dell, will run worse then your own built.
The dell, will come with a 32 bit OS.
The dell...

Or, you could just build it, and enjoy your nice running computer, that you love and can have fun building and messing about with.
Something breaks? You have Neweggs wonderful service to help you.

Something breaks with Dell? You have no service to help you. Your out 1100$.
I've seen it happen, but with 6000$+ worth of computers.

wow guys... well , i went ahead and bought it, and i could safely safe i am very happy with my purchase,

no, the monitor is not a piece of crap, the printer is actually very good all-in-one. It came with 64-bit OS, its not a "horrible" case, i like it, the heatsink is better than stock heatsinks from motherboards you buy from newegg, awesome graphics card too.

the only downsides i could find: 350W psu, and no speakers (lol)

but you could always buy a psu and speakers.

as with support... ive had brand computers before, never needed support for anything physical
