Just recently my cpu has been getting too hot and shutting itself down, it doesnt do it very often just now and then, sualy applying new gel seems to solve it, it does seem to eat it away quite quickly, whenever I take out the cpu to regel the HS there seems to be no gel there...it shouldnt be doing this should it?

the tempature i just saw was 61 celsius and thats after i switched it back on and went into HW Monitoring, so its obviously hitting 80 ish and shutting down...is my processor dead?

what kind of paste are you using?

and what heatsink are you using aswell.
the paste can possibly dry up if the heatsink isnt "tight" on the cpu.

other than that, i cannot help.

good luck.

I got some decent gel from the shop a lot diffrent t the usual stuff.

The sink is as tight as it can be.

Been running coretmp on it and something alarming....

1st Core avearge about 55
2nd Core average about 64

Should not be getting that hot....

btw my specs are:

AMD 5200+ Dual Core 2.7gb
DDR2 667 2gb
Nvidia 8500 GT 1024mb
ASRock K10N78HSLI-GLAN
