My memory timings and frequency

I noticed that my DDR3 memory is running @1066 MHz with 333MHz reference @1.54 Volts with 7-7-7-20 timings. It was advertised to run at

1600 MHz @ 1.8 Volts with 9-9-9-24 timings, I know my mobo only does 1333MHz, but when I raise that, my computer will not boot up at all and I have to reset the CMOS. Do I also need to raise voltage or what am I doing wrong ? R

ok well what is your FSB:RAM ratio, try changing it so that the ram and cpu run at the same speeds. my ram is rated at 1333mhz but it can go to 1600mhz easily with 7-7-7-18 timings.

your mobo should be able to do plenty more than that (might need a BIOS upgrade tho)... what's your FSB, mem multi and timings set at?? does your RAM have an XMP embedded??

CPUZ says ration is 5:8, what does that mean?

I may be due to your DDR3, but my DDR2 is at 5-5-5-18 @ 1.96... -Is that the DDR3 improvement? RAM is Dominator 2 @ 2g 1066..

Mine was @ 5:8 yesterday too, but for some reason it's @ 1:2 right now... Odd WOnder if my CPUx drop from 16.5 to 16 had something to do w it.

So I have never overclocked before but I get the idea on how to do it. Should I play it safe and use default settings?

1066MHz, 1.54v with 7-7-7-20 timings or modify it to match the advertised specs
1333MHz, 1.8v with 9-9-9-24 timings ???

you've probably got speedstep enabled, which downclocks your cpu and ram when idling.

Loosen the timings and go for 1333mhz. If it doesn't boot then try a different FSB:RAM ratio. Yours right now is 5:8 ratio or 333 / 5 x 8 = 532.8 x 2 = 1066mhz.

I went for it and overclocked it. It's running rock solid and I am not surprised and I get 1:2 ratio. Is that pretty good?

1600mhz 9-9-9-24 or 1333mhz? I wouldn't call either good since its basically stock speeds. If you can get 7-6-5-15 1800mhz then I would call that good. X48 boards are suppose to be excellent for memory.
