Core 2 Processor?

Yeah, I know it's a bit outdated - I'm just looking for something to get me by till bigger and better things (i7?). I'm looking for a processor for around $100 - any suggestions? I was looking at the e7400 at newegg for $119...Thoughts?

Core 2s are far from dated, and the e7400 is excellent. Go with that.

e7400 is a good choice. If you want to stay under $100, the e5200 is a good choice.

Thanks for the advice, I thought it seemed ok for now- not screaming, but a nice solid cpu.

Unless you went i7 you won't get much better. e8xxx are better but not a huge difference, q9xxx would only be better if you do stuff that can use all 4 cores.

yeah, I guess I always considered the quads the next level up - but true, if you're not using them, it doesn't really matter. Thanks again for all the help I really appreciate it!
