I just switched from Win 98 to Win XP.

We have an IBM scanner that doesn't seem to be installing properly on XP. (Color ADF Scanner . . . actually a Xerox scanner that IBM logo'd. Comes with Pagis SE.)

I keep getting a message that the driver isn't loading. I think the old install that worked on 98 put a line in CONFIG.SYS.

How do I get that same driver to load in XP? (There doesn't seem to be a CONFIG.SYS.)

Thanks.

I got the latest drivers that IBM makes available (supposed to work with Win 95, 98 and NT/2000.

It just doesn't work . . . I followed instructions to avoid getting a "driver not loaded" message (copy a new SCANAPI.DLL file to the SCANNER directory), but any time I try doing anything that should access the scanner, I get a "scanner dll not there or the scanner is not connected properly" message. Arghh.

umm... for the install, you may have to change the name of the OS in the registry to "Microsoft Windows 2000" from "Microsoft Windows XP". Learned that after my scanners drivers didn't work.

Lots of great info!

Have you tried installing the drivers with the Compatibility Wizard?

would simulate a 98 environment for the scanner,,,

cheers,
