I am in the market for a laptop. Narrowed it down to this one, but
have to 2 options. All seems same besides AMD vs. Intel(+$50):

Well.. the T3400 is slightly faster than the Athlon X2 CPU, however the GPU in the AMD's is faster.. but both are weak..

Either or, at this point just go with what is cheaper

Your cutting yourself short with both laptops but like vernong said just go with the one that leaves the most money in your pocket.... since you will be needed it to upgrade somewhere in the not so distant future.

If this is the price range you're looking at I'd recommend the AMD one. Even just a few hundred more can net you a much more powerful machine if you can spare it, though.

The AMD one will let you attempt to play some of the newer games at low settings where the Intel one, I know for a fact, COD4 will not install on, and a lot of other games will have issues running on due to the Intel GPU...

should prefer intel over AMD when it comes to laptop. General information they said AMD heat up more quickly than Intel.

Hello,

Assuming the system specs meet your requirements, I suggest getting the AMD Compaq laptop. The graphics is better in comparison, and comparing the processors, while the AMD Athlon X2 QL-62 processor is slightly slower by 160MHz, it supports a faster bus speed (1800MHz compared to 667MHz of the Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3400) and has a lower Thermal Design Power of 25W compared to 35W of the Pentium Dual-Core T3400.
