I didn't run that test. I ran the memory test provided by the Microsoft site. It was an ISO which I converted to a CD or DVD. Should I run this one too? I should say that It passed the first few tests and then I turned it off as per the instructions.

I also ran the system's test provided by Dell.

You've abandoned me.

I worked on the computer today. I tried the Mem86 test and it past it.

I got the following message,

Hardware problems were detected. To identify and repair these problems you will need to contact the computer manufacturer.

I then tried to repair the O/S by using the installation DVD.

It was installing well and then stopped and said that hardware problems would not allow for the rest of the installation to be completed.

Please, help me I am going bonkers.

So, finally is it the motherboard?

Well memory is good assuming you ran memtest for a few hours. Hard drive is readable. Cd drive works. GPU is good. That leaves mb and cpu which are not easily changed on a laptop. Is it still under warranty? Sorry I am in the GMT+1 time zone and my daughter had a birthday.
