Gtx 285

Finally see the GTX 285 cards out, Comparing them to the 280 I expected to see a much higher upgrade but better than the 280 is still kicking it hard, The 280 is a hard hitter but I'm not sure if it would be worth the price difference to get the 285 instead of the 280. Planning on upgrading with some tax money and originally planned on the GTX260-216 but decided to go for the 280 but now I'm looking at the 285 Will the maddness ever end LOL Well I'll see what I get for taxes this year, Last year was 1700.00 (state and fed) so see if I can beat that this year. Just gotta pay off that last CC the ex left me (4k) but a guy gotta have his toys hehe OH crap I got too many toys LOL and the PC is the cheapest of the 3 things I'm into. So what do you guys think of the 285 over the 280, Is it worth the price over the 280???

i really don't think so...i'd just get the gtx 280. The 260 core 216 maxes any game anyway...so it will too.

Finally? it was meant to be release today no sooner no later. Its 110% faster then the gtx280 going from preview reviews just make a stand and buy something there is always something shinier and better round the corner.

I thought the 110% was the 295 not the 285, specs don't look all that much higher but are a little bit higher.

No the gtx295 is around 160-170% faster then a single gtx280. The 295 is 2x260 core 240's on 2 pcbs which fit into a single slot, you could also say its 2x280's which have been downclocked by a lot.

GTx 295 is GTX 280's on the GTX 260 bus....but the full 480 shaders are still there so it beats core 216's in SLI and comes very close to 280's in SLI.

Lol, your saying it wrong. Remember that 100% faster means twice as fast, so by you saying 110% faster means over twice the performance. You mean 10% faster.

get 2x 295's and be done with it!
maybe a new psu to power those suckers up.

LOL and live on Ramon noodles and water and go with a I7 too I suppose, actually a friend is buying me E6850 and GTX9800+ for $250 so I only need about $350 or so for the upgrade, already got a corsair 650 ps so I should be good there.

Actually if you go I7 get 4 slot board and get 4x285 quad sli. then live on noodles for a few years .
