Need PC3200 RAM to Overclock good?

depends on what games...but generally yeah it would....I would just get some better cooling though and eventually get PC3200 ram and OC that 2500+ to 3200+ speeds or if you can't reach that high of speeds then just raise the FSB up and lower the multi to get the same speed. Default is 11x166 = 1.83GHz so if you change your FSB to 200 and your multiplier to 9 it'll still be 1.8GHz but you'll have your CPU running 1:1 with PC3200 ram ya see?

No problemo and BTW adjusting your FSB and lowering the multi really wouldn't be considered overclocking so you shouldn't have to worry about your temps being insanely higher than normal

im sure right now u can get by with a xp 2500+ but yes ur video card defenetly is holding you down and you should probably get a new one. but first i'd get more ram. i cant even stand playing things with 256 megs of pc3200 and you have pc2100 which must be much worse. i suggest getting at least 256 megs of ram more and in addition to that getting a new video card.

Default is 11x166 = 1.83GHz so if you change your FSB to 200 and your multiplier to 9 it'll still be 1.8GHz but you'll have your CPU running 1:1 with PC3200 ram ya see?

Your CPU's Default is 11x166 like I said.....that's designed for 333 ram aka PC2700....if you lower your multi to 9 and change your FSB to 200...you'll have the same 1.8GHz clockspeed you have right now, but you'll be able to run PC3200 RAM (400) at the speed its supposed to run. If you threw in PC3200 ram with your current 11x166 then its only gonna run at 333 not 400. RAM is DDR remember (Double Data Rate) so when you look at the FSB of your computer (166 in this case) that means for a 1:1 ratio you'd need 333MHz ram which is PC2700 (166 x 2 = 333) its 166 x 2 cause of the DOUBLE data rate.....thats why if you raise your FSB to the 200 like I said...then you'd have 200 x 2 = 400 which is PC3200.
