The cable is IDE the actual port/technology is PATA. If its just a single cd rom and a single hd you can run two devices off one port with no performance difference

i have no idea how to overclock things loll
you think i should just get the ASUS?
the only thing thats stopping me is cus my broken mobo is an ASUS
and im very hesitant about them now :/

Ive never had a problem with ASUS boards I use.

Asus had some quality control issues in 1st and 2nd quarters of last year they produced some buggy motherboards it happens to every large company once in a while. Wouldn't bother me there rma system is good and most of the boards have been out of the market for a while now.
