I know the 4870 X2 2G card is pretty good, but would it be worth adding a second 48701G card to my setup?

I run 1650 x 1080. It'd basically be the same thing as the X2 2G tho, but I already have an X1 1G.......

Rig specs in sig...

in theory, the 4870x2 should perform better, and it does in some tests, but it loses in others..

basically they are both the same except the 4870x2 gives you a chance to add in another 4870x2 if you only have a mobo with 2x pci-e...

you aren't happy with 1 4870? if you're happy with ur performance, not worth getting

Get an extra 4870 1GB. It will cost you less then grabbing a new 4870X2.

Besides for the price of the 4870X2 you should be getting the GTX295 instead.

You don't even need 2gb of vram at 1650 resolution. You'd be fine if you added a 512mb HD 4870.

if he used a 512 with it in crossfire it would limit the 1gb to 512mb as well. thats a no-no.
yeah for your resolution i dont think you are going to see any tremendous improvement over your single card.
you'd have pretty sick benchmark scores though :)
