New to Macs, Where to start?

I am debating buying a used G5. I am not too concerned with it being the latest and greatest because I just want to learn about them. Are there any books or websites that can give me info on loading the OS and upgrading components? I have a pretty good knowledge of PC's so now I figure I should learn about macs.

OSX the missing manual is a good place to start from a technical standpoint.
