Well it's easy. The i7 920 and the Q9550 are the same price, and the 920 will blow the Q9550 away in performance. So if you can afford the extra cash for a x58 mobo and DDR3 ram then get it. If you can't afford that stuff then get the Q9550.

If you have $1200 or more budget.... Core i7 is a must on that rig, otherwise you've wasted some cash in some places
