Need help building a i7 cpu on a $1700 budget

Can some one please help me build a i7 cpu from Micro Center | the center of .computer shopping


the problem iam having is i have to use a quadro fx 1700 graphics card

im useing it for autodesk maya 2009

so basicly im building around a

i7 920 motherboard
8gigs of ram
500gb harddrive
quadro fx 1700

i dont know what else to get


my budget is 1700
with vista and labor fees so basicly 1400

if that dosent work an some 1 help me get a build for a quad 95500

labor fees? dude..it's not hard to build a computer.... Anyway, you'll have to use 3-6-9-12gb or RAM...no 8gb because it's tri-channel

Core I7 920
6-9gb RAM (any will do, probably 1600mhz though) (probably need 6gb..maybe even 3gb with your budget)
Western digital or seagate 500gb harddrive
any X58 board will do, just don't go intel (use intel chipsets, just not their boards)

your going to want to get 6gb of ram because i7 is tri channel not dual channel.

i would get the biostar x58 motherboard


really we cant build a pc using micro center because they havnt added any of there i7 stuff on the site...

so i build u one off newegg.

also labor???? pff ur spending way to much on that and vista
u just tell them ur spending 1500 on stuff there and they expect you to pay them more to put it together for you... or just build it yourself its not that hard.

This leaves room for an OS and optical drive. This will chew through maya and the 12GB of ram will leave you heaps of headroom for running other programs at the same time, especially if you do alot of work with large files in photoshop or anything.

EIDT: Bah, Stalin got in before me. Also, you can build this yourself - but if you do get someone to do it they shouldnt charge any more than about $50 for it!

I have a friend who is building a core i7 rig also. I put the parts list together and I didn't have the constraint of the Quadro. He was expecting 3k, but I got him the build for just under $1700.

The i7 is laods faster and will give you upgrade options in the future. The Q9550 build will be cheaper but when you go to upgrade you will have to throw the motherboard out too.
