3400+ clawhammer vs 3500 939?

Personally, I would go for the 3400+ because of the cache. But I update frequently - So I have no problems also replacing the motherboard when the time comes.

If you got the cash go down the 939 road, u wont regret it.
939 boards have a few advantages over 754 ones.

939 boards offer Hyper Transport of 2ghz compared to 1600mhz of the 754.

939 offers a data-rate of 14.4gb per sec compared to 9.6 on 754.

939 offers dual channel 128bit memory controllers, 754 does not.

939 boards are more stable for overclocking.

Oh how i wish i had loadsa spare cash!!

Both 754 and 939 have an 800 Mhz FSB. 1600 Mhz is just a comparison. You can read about it here.

When they say it can technically reach 2000 Mhz, that is because the FSB can be clocked to 1000 Mhz (250x4) while keeping stability*. Considering the CPU will be processing 64 bits per clock cycle, it will be sending twice the data at 1000 Mhz (250x4). Hence, 2000 Mhz (when comparing to 32-bit).

It's the same with an 800 Mhz FSB. The CPU will be sending twice the amount of data at 800 Mhz, therefore it is like 1600 Mhz when comparing to 32-bit.

*You need sufficient cooling (on CPU and NB), high performance memory and a quality motherboard.
