As far as performance yes there is. Just look at some benchmarks in your free time. It has been beaten into the ground many times and there are a lot of people with hurt feelings over it

But long story short, yes Core 2s are faster than the AMDs. They also overlcock better.

No I'm just trying to explain to him how it is before he goes asking questions that will start a riot. We have had several flame wars develop on TF in the past from newer members asking a question like ATI v Nvidia or AMD v Intel. I'm trying to stop that before it happens.

Core 2 is faster but he wouldn't be able to get a system with one with his budget so doesn't matter.
