I have just installed XP pro on my spare computer. Everything seems to be OK except upon shutdown, when instead of the usual closing down sequence and the computer turning itself off, I get the XP logo back again with a message that says "it is now safe to turn your computer off "........I then have to manually push the on/off switch to turn it off.
Just spent 2 hours (ish) trying to resolve this........without any success.
Anyone got any suggestions ?

Can you give more specs about your PC, i.e. Motherboard type, processor...

Usaully that instance is with AT motherboards that do not support "soft-power off" which basically means that you can't turn your PC off with software, like Windows, instead you have to physically press the power button on your PC.

Thanks for your reply.............
Problem now resolved. It turned out to be a setting on the Advanced Power Management, it wasn't enabled. It is now and everything is fine.
