as far as i remembered hdmi only did 1920x1200 (1920x1080 mostly.. due to tv's!)

and ya.. on regular tv.. not even clear type can help out with text....
and as i've said previously.. hdmi and dvi are the same thing.. just hdmi has audio capability
EDIT
apparently there is a type of HDMI that does 2560x1600 now.. guess its been a wihle since i've really looked into it!
HDMI version 1.0–1.2a 1.3+
Maximum signal bandwidth (MHz) 165 340
Maximum TMDS bandwidth (Gbit/s) 4.95 10.2
Maximum video bandwidth (Gbit/s) 3.96 8.16
Maximum audio bandwidth (Mbit/s) 36.86 36.86
Maximum Color Depth (bit/px) 24 48[A]
Maximum resolution over single link at 24-bit/px 1920×1200p60 2560×1600p75
Maximum resolution over single link at 30-bit/px[C] N/A 2560×1600p60
Maximum resolution over single link at 36-bit/px[D] N/A 1920x1200p75
Maximum resolution over single link at 48-bit/px[E] N/A 1920×1200p60
i still think dvi has the edge... seeing here

i'm not sure about hdmi refresh rates.. but i'm seeing some nice ones here in these lists
