Have been looking at Ibuypower.com and NewEgg and TigerDirect

Others have said that AMD is best for Gaming that I read. Is AMD a better choice?

Is a dual-core better or Quad-core?

Is 4 gigs of Ram the best?

Is XP better or Vista?

I will be collecting many games from here and will be interested in where to get them.

Is a certain kind of Lan card better for online gaming?

I am wanting to spend around $1600 for this machine.

What's with the 3Gb memory barrier?

Right now Intel is the better choice for gaming
For gaming people prefer dual core because games don't really use all the cores and dual cores are a good deal cheaper and overclock better (i think)
4GB RAM is plenty
IMO vista is the better OS although XP has lower system requirements - but then it should have it's a pretty old now
Your motherboard will have an integrated NIC which will be fine
the 3GB memory barrier you are referring to os probably limitation of 32 bit OS. Get a 64 bit OS and you will not have this problem.
