He's running Server 2008 and turning all visual effects off brings scores up.

doesnt do anything i tried it myself i took everything down to the most basic it would go and i stil lgot a better score in xp.

Server 08 just comes without the aero pack installed by default, I don't really like it so I never installed it.

..and server 08 is much better at benching than Vista ...of course not as good as XP, which is why I just installed XP on another partition.

so i've just recently found out i've been running my core i7 at 4.0 ghz all this time..

i'd say unpacking over 40 gb of data is a nice stress test

no restarts or freeze ups yet

i thought my settings reset when i hit the clear cmos button on the back of the mobo... but when it restarted i clicked used last good settings... and i didnt know my 4.0ghz was the last good setting...

oh.. and another booboo.. it was 4.2ghz... i forgot turbo mode was permanently on
