CPU Upgrade question

Get the cheapest one you can find. Then overclock it a decent mhz with some stability.

OR get a AM2+ build maybe even an Intel build instead.

DDR2 is dirt cheap, this is probably the best time to upgrade. Before you start seeing AM3 boards getting released left and right along with DDR3 ram becoming the standard ram.

Like I said, the BIOS provides no clock speed or voltage control. Otherwise I would just overclock the one i had!

I have already said I am thinking of getting an Intel setup, I am checking if there is a cheaper option.

I also said that I have more than enough ram, but does using a faster RAM make much difference vs a faster CPU? Or does one limit the other?
No, I don't believe that is true.
OK well how much faster would a dual core make things? Does it only speed up things if you are, say, loading two apps?

Thanks, RM

OK well the only 4800+s still in circulation are silly priced, so I guess if I want a faster PC Ill have to make a new one. At least the price of parts is reasonable nowadays.
