CAS latency

I know it is the time that it takes for the ram to respond to a command correct me if I'm wrong, but what is the unit of measurement here? I just want to be sure?

Column Address Strobe CAS for short is the clock cycles you wait. If the Cas is 4 you wait 4 clock cycles while waiting only 3 for Cas 3.
